The Historical Society offers a wide variety of educational outreach activities. Tours, museum lessons and kits, resource materials and use of research facilities are available to schools, long term care centers, clubs and civic organizations.

Our programs use photographs, artifacts, historical documents and live demonstrations to bring hands-on learning to people of all ages and abilities. Children can discover a "new" world grinding corn or coffee, or participating in old-fashioned games. Adults find many of our programs enjoyable – especially the ones that allow them to recall their own childhood memories.

A variety of special events are planned yearly. Annual programs such as Museum Days and OTC - Military Past Roundtable Discussions make the museum a source for rich cultural programming.

LAKE LIFE WKND 050 Hear the Cormorant Boys speak about Cboys TV and tell their lake life story. They grew up in Cormorant Village, Lakes Country, and started to create films they published on You Tube a couple years ago. Quickly after some of their recordings went viral on the internet they made a business plan and today their YouTube channel has more than 300.000 subscribers from all over the world. Some of their videos have even more than 1 million views. They are by far one of the best exports from our region and became serious internet influencers. LAKE LIFE WKND 049 with a brief winter break special announcement. It has been a fantastic year 2018 and we like to thank all our listeners for tuning in so regularly. We recorded a total of 86 episodes since 2017 and have reached more than 5,000 listeners so far. That makes us proud and happy. We will continue to capture Lake Life stories from the area and greater Minnesota for you to enjoy next season. This winter we will also work on our online shop and new website layout. He works at the Holmes Theater in Detroit Lakes and at night performs as an EDM DJ in clubs in Minneapolis and Fargo on a regular basis. The music his record label publishes is ranking in the TOP 25 in the UK charts and is a crazy success to Eric himself who is a very humble young man and great artist. Erik Dale is a producer/DJ born in Eau Claire, WI. Taught proper in Fargo, North Dakota's bass music scene, he continues to impress with his eclectic sets. Performing for the past four years, Dale has been developing his skills, while learning from veteran DJ's, and award winning turntablists. Dale is bringing a modern sound to the Midwest with old school manners and immense drive and passion. "Erik has a different attitude, instead of doing it for the high or to meet the ladies he's the one making connections, and absorbing knowledge."

He has been a producer for 6 years and a multi-instrumentalist musician for 8 years. He has been heard in over 30 countries on air and through his original tracks while simultaneously rocking every kind of venue from house parties to headlining a 3000+ person venue. In 2014 alone, Dale wrote 25 original tracks and remixes!

Jenny lives with her husband near the Twin Cities and together they spend every wknd exploring the outdoors in Minnesota. They capture each adventure and publish their story online. During the past year they have gained thousands of followers and they are more than thrilled about the feedback they receive when posting pictures or publishing a road trip story. This is right up our alley and we were able to meet with them to record this interview. THE PASSION PROJECT TURNED OBSESSION

Back in 2013 Tim's wife, Jen, wanted a paddleboard, and throughout researching the different options he stumbled across some guys on both coasts building wooden surfboards, and he absolutely fell in love with them. The look, the environmental benefits, and lastly, the fact he could make it his own. He told his wife he was going to built one for her. It’s crazy to think back to that moment, he says, because at that time he didn’t realize that the following years were going to completely transform their lives.
